Report: Gunman holding hostages at Turkish embassy in Tel Aviv
August 17th, 2010 - 11:59 pm ICT by BNO NewsTEL AVIV (BNO NEWS) — Shots rang out at the Turkish embassy in Tel Aviv on early Tuesday evening, local media reported, but few details were immediately available.
The Haaretz newspaper reported that a Palestinian man from the West Bank city of Ramallah barricaded himself in an office inside the embassy, holding two hostages with him. Haaretz reported he was threatening to kill ‘any Jews’ entering the building.
Scores of emergency personnel was seen in the vicinity of the embassy, along Yarkon Street where the embassy is located. The newspaper reported that embassy staff has barred police and medical personnel from entering the building.
