Marina Del Rey, Calif, August 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Police in California are hunting for thieves who took away a painting by Rembrandt from a hotel in south California. Investigators say the heist was well planned. The painting is worth $250,000 and the hotel officials say it was stolen on Saturday night. The theft took place at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Marina del Rey.

The police have uncovered that the heist was carried out within a period of 15 minutes. The painting which is believed to be called “The Judgment,” was on display at the hotel. According to the police, the curator at the facility was distracted while the others took advantage and stole the piece.

Officials have now turned to the surveillance cameras in the facility to determine how the piece was stolen. Officials say it is unlikely that the surveillance video from the hotel will be made public.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore announced on Sunday that, “The Ritz-Carlton has some of the best hotel security in the nation. We’re confident that our leads, and the surveillance video will help us solve this.”

The stolen painting was among a group of paintings which were on display at the hotel in an exhibition which was sponsored by the San Francisco’s Linearis Institute.
