Feb 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Louisa Ball was featured on Fox News on Tuesday, Feb 10. At a first, cursory glance, she looks very much like any other 15 year old girl. However,. what makes her unique, and the reason that she was there in Fox News to tell her story, is that she suffers from an extremely rare illness, called the Kleine Levin Syndrome, or, in more comprehensible terms, the Sleeping Beauty Syndrome. Hardly as romantic romantic as it sounds, the illness causes Louisa Ball to fall asleep for abnormally long periods at a time, and once she does, it does not seem likely that a kiss from a prince could wake her up.

Louisa Ball contracted the strange illness after she came down with a bout of flu. Then, she was diagnosed with the Sleeping beauty Syndrome, or the Kleine Levin Syndrome. She sleeps not for hours, but for days at a stretch. The longest period of time that she has slept so far has been a for a fortnight. Needless to say, the illness has caused her to miss out on a huge lot in her life. She has slept through entire camping trips and parties, because not even ample excitement can keep her awake.

It is expected that Louisa Ball would be cured of this in about ten to twelve years. The Kleine Levin, or the Sleeping Beauty Syndrome is mostly seen in teenagers, and there is no known cure, so far. The most terrible part of the baffling disease is its unpredictability, as Louisa Ball’s father stated. She sleeps off at any moment, and for any period of time. She has to be force fed by her family during this time.
