Del Mar, Mar 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A 7 year old African sand dog named Rascal is the titleholder of the 15th annual ugly dog contest, which was held in Del Mar in California. Rascal also created history, as he has the most number of ‘Ugly Dog’ titles in the 15-year-old history of the pageant. The pageant also has winners for the cutest, most unusual and the best costume.

The founder and the organizer of the show are the Del Mar Kiwanis Club, who are of the opinion that there are no bad-looking dogs at all. They organize the annual event, and even hand out prizes to the dogs and their masters. And the proceeds from the party are spend on the animals that are in distress. “I know dogs aren’t ugly, though some kind of are,” said show producer and Del Mar Kiwanis member Sheila McDonnell, “but they are so loved by their owners that it doesn’t matter.” “A huge supporter has been County Supervisor Pam Slater. She donated $3,500.” Even though the weather was bad, but it didn’t succeed in dampening the spirits of the dog lovers, and lots of people turned up for the show. “It didn’t seem to stop the turnout,” she said. “It was standing room only. We had a 20,000 square foot building and we took up every darn inch.”
