Oct 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) British cameramen have come across a very scarce type of hippos, which are pink in color.

The Britishers - Will and Matt Burrard-Lucas were looking for wildebeest on the run but instead spotted the pinky hippopotamus.

Will stated in an interview with the Daily Telegraph that their tour guide had been told of the existence of this pink hippo by another guide, but had no idea where it was based and never had an encounter with it. “Our guide had mentioned that he had heard rumors of this rare hippo from a fellow guide, however, he was not told where it lived and he had never come across it before,” according to Will.

He said they were quite disappointed after what looked like a wasteful morning one day and decided to rest and have their breakfast on the banks of River Mara.

They were stunned after a while to see the pink hippo come onto the river’s far bank. They stated that the hippo’s color wasn’t an indication of albinism as they saw pigmentation on the skin even though it was a reduced one. They however stated that the animal was leucitic and many animals with that condition die in their earlier years, because they are very conspicuous to other wildlife.

They also normally suffer from sunburning.
