London, Dec 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ordinary train travelers had a royal visitor amongst their train ride on Thursday. Queen Elizabeth II was seen taking a train for her Christmas break to Norfolk on Thursday. However she didn’t cause much of a stir, because she was dressed in quite a low-key way and largely went unnoticed amongst her ordinary subjects. Hardly anybody seemed to notice her, when she boarded the 10:45 am train.
The eighty-three old Queen was dressed in a low-key way and people on the train didn’t recognize her much. She had booked all the 12 seats in a first class compartment for her 100 mile trip to King’s Lynn, Norfolk. The price of each first class seat would have costed her 44.40 pounds each. This would be peanuts for the Queen who has an annual salary of over $12 million.
According to reports, no one else sat in the first class compartment in which the Queen was seated, due to security reasons.
Passenger Gemma Birrell, 16, said: “I didn’t recognize her straight away and thought it might be a B-list celebrity.” Train operator First Capital Connect said: “The Queen is setting a good example traveling by train. We hope she uses our services again.”
Queen Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born 21 April 1926. She is the queen regnant of sixteen independent sovereign states known informally as the Commonwealth realms: the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Kitts and Nevis.
