Mar 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Two weeks ago, a massive earthquake hit Chile, destroying a good deal of the country. Today, just as they were all set to swear in their new president, Sebastian Pinera yet another quake, or very large aftershock, has hit the country. It is said to be measured at 7.2, according to reports just in from Fox News. This comes on the heels of many major earthquakes recently.
It is yet unclear to what extent this aftershock has caused any damage, or if there are any injuries or deaths. It has also not been announced whether or not the swearing on of the new president will continue as planned. I will do follow-up stories as the news comes in.
The new president, Pinera is a Conservative billionaire and also a Harvard-trained economist, and the people of Chile are counting on his knowledge and experience to help them financially. There have been quite a lot of Chilean Industries which were very adversely effected by the recent quake, which has caused great hurt to the wine, fish, paper and pulp industries in the country. The copper mines were the only major industry in the country that was not effected by the quake.
And now they have suffered another. As stated, it measured 7.2, and damages and injuries yet unknown. Updates to follow.
