Its been reported that on July 2, a two year old child was killed by a python in Oxford, Florida. The python was a pet one, which had slipped outside its heated tank, terrarium where it was kept and went into the two-year old tot’s room. The baby girl named Shaiunna Hare resided in a florida home with Jaren who is the mother of the child and her mum’s boy friend, Charles Darnell who actually owns the python.

The Python had slipped in to the child’s room last night and had strangled her. Not finding the snake in the terrarium, Charles went into the room of the child where he found the snake wrapped around Shaiunna who had bite marks of the python on her head. Trying to free the child from the python, Darnell stabbed the snake to death. He then sought help of the 911 service where a caller was recorded saying, “The Baby’s dead! Our stupid snake got out in the middle of the night and strangled the baby.” Lt. Bobby Caruthers of the Sunter County Sheriff’s Office has been reported saying that when the paramedics arrived at 10 a.m the little child was already dead.

The python was reported to be more than 8 feet long and belongs to Burmese origin. The owner Charles didn’t have any License for owning the python which is absolutely mandatory for owning any animal. Since its a death case too, Charles Darnell may also have to face child endangerment charges.

Buying such snakes is not a new thing as owners release them when they grow about 26 feet. In 30 years, 12 people in the US have been killed by Pythons.
