officerSeattle, June 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A Seattle teen who shoved a police officer Ian P. Walsh last Monday was charged with third degree assault last Friday. The girl, however, apologized to the police officer on that very day who was charged of assaulting him in a jaywalking incident. The girl, Angel L. Rosenthal met with Ian P. Walsh at a North Seattle Community center in a meeting arranged by James Kelly, who is the President and chief executive officer of the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle.

The incident goes back to Monday when the teenager interfered in a friend’s arrest for jaywalking and pushed officer Ian P. Walsh who retaliated back by punching her on her face. The whole incident was video recorded and caused much hue and cry attracting media attention as well. However, if the girl is found guilty then she will have to suffer 30 days of detention and up to one year of juvenile probation, but the girl apologized to the police officer and the Seattle Police says that the cop accepted her apology. Meanwhile, the girl is also said to have been arrested for robbery but the case was dropped as the victim did not testify.

This apology is the stepping stone towards reconciliation and healing as James Kelly refers it to be. The police officer Ian P. Walsh is also under investigation as the Seattle Police says and the department’s civilian led Office of Professional Accountability is investigating his actions. Now it is up to Ian P. Walsh if he would want to carry the case further.
