Public Advisory Issued as Hurricane Earl Strengthens to Category 3
August 30th, 2010 - 10:18 pm ICT by Angela Kaye MasonAug 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A public advisory has just been issued from the Hurricane Center in Miami Florida, notifying citizens that Hurricane Earl has just became a major hurricane, causing watches and warnings to be given at several areas in the projected path of the storm.
As of 1100 AM, Hurricane Earl was located at 18.7 N 63.6 W, about 95 miles East, Northeast of St, Thomas, and about 165 miles East of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Earl had maximum sustained winds of 120 miles per hour at the time.
A hurricane WARNING has been issued for the islands of CULEBRA and VIEQUES, and most of PUERTO RICO. A WARNING is also in effect for ANGUILLA, SAINT MARTIN AND SAINT BARTHELEMY, ST. MAARTEN…SABA…AND ST. EUSTATIUS, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS and the U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS.
A TROPICAL STORM WARNING is in effect for ANTIGUA, BARBUDA, MONTSERRAT, ST. KITTS, AND NEVIS. TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS are currently under a tropical storm watch.
Hurricane conditions are said to be expected inside the HURRICANE WARNING are within the next 12 hours. Residents should have already completed preparations to protect their property and lives. Anyone within the projected path of this storm are advised to keep close watch on new reports which may be coming in to news agencies.
