gay2California, Aug 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The historic verdict of Vaughn Walker the much talked about US District Judge which paved the way for the demolition of the controversial Proposition 8 in California made the gays and lesbians in the state jubilant. Now the same sex couples on the US state has more reasons to celebrate and feel happy. The judge dismissed proposition 8 saying it violated the rights set by the US constitution but also ordered a temporary stay on the same sex marriage in the state. The stay is going to expire on august 18th. This means that the gay and lesbian couples will be able to tie the knots legally after that date. The judge on Thursday declined to extend the stay on same sex marriage. If the higher court does not intervene the gay couples have no reasons to feel burdened.

The August 4th ruling of the judge gave a big moral boost to the gay community as well as the LGBT activists in the stat but they were slightly disheartened to know that they would have to wait for some more time to tie the knot legally. As one can understand, the supporters of Proposition 8 are not happy at the decision of the judge.

The same sex couples who have been staying together for long are impatient and they want to stay to be lifted as soon as possible in California. The LGBT activists who have been fighting for a long time for legalization of same sex marriage are also echoing the views of gay and lesbian couples. The couples who came to the court to know the result were neither fully happy nor disappointed.
