primark London, Apr 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Retailer Primark faced a lot of flak for stocking padded bikinis for 7-year-old girls. And finally they were left with no alternatives but to pull them out of the store. The padding on the halter-top bikinis made the 7-year-old girls look like as if they had real breasts. The protests gained steam when the British media ran front-page stories about them, and criticized them no end.

Some child protection agencies also joined in the protest, and made calls to Primark and requested them to pull out the padded bikinis off their shelves. The bikinis came in two colors – black and white polka dots and hot pink with gold stars.

β€œIt can be psychologically damaging to encourage girls at age 7 or close to that age to consider themselves as sexually attractive to boys or men,” according to Dr. Keith Ablow who is a Fox News Medical A-Team member and a psychiatrist as well.

Other protestors of the padded bikinis included parents and also the founder of Mumsnet, which is a parenting website. Justine Roberts, who is the founder of Mumsnet, said that it was shameful for the British culture that such a things was displayed on the shelves, in the shop in the first place. “It’s a shame it was ever put on the shelves in the first place,” said Justine Roberts. She added that it was a mature and sensible decision to pull them out of the shop.
