President Obama launches national campaign to support the Affordable Care Act
June 9th, 2010 - 2:41 am ICT by BNO NewsWASHINGTON D.C. (BNO NEWS) – President Barack Obama launched an unprecedented national campaign to support and deliver the facts to American seniors regarding Medicare and the Affordable Care Act, the White House announced on Tuesday.
During a national tele-town hall meeting with senior citizens, President Obama answered questions directly from the concerned seniors. The meeting took place as more than 100 neighborhood meetings with administration officials were held across the country.
The new campaign launched by Obama is expected to combat fraud and misinformation on the health care act signed earlier this year. Obama highlighted that fraud and scam artists are a threat due to the fact that these individuals seek to take advantage of the new law and steal from citizens.
Obama’s Administration has already taken some steps to fight such fraud, besides the new campaign announced on Tuesday. The steps included a series of anti-fraud summits, a renewed partnership between the federal government and state Attorneys General, and redoubling efforts to coordinate with state and local law enforcement to prevent and prosecute fraud.
The first phase of the campaign will be a series of radio advertisements which will be broadcasted in key areas of the country. More information and further actions will be announced at a later time.
