President Obama calls Russian President Medvedev after Moscow attacks
March 30th, 2010 - 2:24 am ICT by BNO NewsWASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) — President Barack Obama on Monday strongly condemned the suicide attacks at two Moscow subway stations, killing at least 38 people and injuring about 100 people. He also spoke with Russian President Medvedev by telephone.
“I send my deepest condolences to the people of Russia after the terrible loss of life and injuries resulting from the bombings on the Moscow Metro,” Obama said in a statement. “The American people stand united with the people of Russia in opposition to violent extremism and heinous terrorist attacks that demonstrate such disregard for human life, and we condemn these outrageous acts.”
Obama said his thoughts and prayers go out to those who lost loved ones. “I wish all who sustained injuries a succesful recovery,” Obama added, who also spoke with Russian President Medvedev by telephone.
In the call, Obama personally conveyed his condolences and said the United States is ready to cooperate with Russia to ‘help bring to justice those who undertook this attack.’
