obama3Washington, Feb 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) US President Barack Obama on Tuesday announced that the federal government will allow a conditional loan of $8.33 billion to build a new nuclear reactor in Burke. This nuclear plant will be the first of its kind in the last three decades. The announcement made by the President has been welcomed by the Democrats. According to US President Barack Obama, this decision has been taken keeping in mind that other nations are enhancing their non-emission energy resources and developing faster.

President Barack Obama said that this nuclear plant will not only increase the energy resources of the country but also create job opportunities in US. He said that if new nuclear plants are not constructed then the country will lag behind and job opportunities will be created overseas. He also sited environmental reasons saying that nuclear energy does not emit any carbon residue. He emphasized that this argument over the environment friendliness of the nuclear fuel between environmentalists and bureaucrats should be resolved as this change is much needed to keep pace with other nations who are investing in these new age advanced energy technologies.

He pointed out that 56 new nuclear power plants are being built, out of which 21 are being set in China. He said that India too is developing its projects of nuclear power resources. This agenda of climate change reform has been supported by many Republicans too. The Critics of the agenda however have pointed out that there is still no safe way of disposing the nuclear waste and that of storing the nuclear fuel which then becomes dangerous.
