Powerball winner hits jackpot and wins $230 million

Roseville, Minn., Aug 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Wednesday, the Minnesota State Lottery announced that the biggest lottery has been won in the nation. A Powerball player hit the jackpot winning almost $230 million. The winner has the option to collect the amount over a period of 30 years or take $83.7 million after tax and other deductions have been made.

Acting lottery director Jenny Canfield announced that, “This is the largest jackpot ever won in Minnesota. I’ve already heard from some players about how excited they are that the jackpot was won right here in Minnesota.”

On Wednesday, the winning numbers that were drawn from the jackpot were 11, 18, 36, 41 and 46 with Powerball 38. The winning ticket was bought at a shop in Dakota County. The winner will have to come forward within 60 day with the option of either taking the lump sum which will be $123.6 million before taxes or accept a total of $228.9 million over a period of 30 years.

Powerball has been played in the United States since 1992. This is the 21st time that there has been a winner in Minnesota. The winner is expected to produce the winning ticket for validation before payment can be made.
