Washington, Jan 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Flights came to grounding halt at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, because there has been a power outage at the airport. And it has brought operations to a halt. The power went out at around 12:30 pm on Monday on Terminal C. This was confirmed by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority spokesperson Tara Hamilton.

Because of the power outage no planes are taking off, but thankfully some flights are still able to land thankfully the control tower has a backup power supply. The power supplier to the Reagan Airport is Dominion Power. And they worked around the clock to fix the problem and the problem was fixed at 1:27 pm. The outage had started at 12:25 pm ET. So there was an electrical failure for an hour on the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Because of this, the Metropolitan Washington Airports spokeswoman Courtney Mickalonis said the airport was put in a ground stop, halting all arrivals and departures. “They were able to identify a piece of equipment within the airport system,” she said. Anderson said there was no interruption in service leading to the airport.

Transportation Security Administration workers allowed those who had cleared security checkpoints to remain in the gate lounge waiting areas. And those who had not passed screening itself prior to the outage, were blocked from entering the secure zones at the airport until the power supply was restored.
