Pope on a plane May 12, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Pope Benedict XVI has declared that the sexual maltreatment meted out to children by the pedophile priests within the church was the biggest threat confronting the church. He was communicating with journalists on his way to a flight to Portugal. His proclamation arrived after the latest sexual disgrace consisting of priests in Ireland, Austria, Germany and the United States.

He confessed that the largest threat to the popularity and reverence of the church doesn’t come from outside but from inside the church. He mentioned that the church desperately needs to relearn the virtue of atonement.

Pope himself was pulled into the sexual controversy, which proclaimed that he was implicated in a sexual abuse case linked to a German priest when he was Archbishop of Munich in the early 1980s.

Numerous priests have had to give up their job in consequence of the child abuse controversy, which has struck the Christian world recently.

In his observations, the Pope remarked that exculpation can never replace justice. He mentioned that the Church was being ill-treated and disparaged for its sins and described this hullabaloo as a component of the alleged Third Mystery of Fatima. The Third Mystery of Fatima was a trio of wicked secrets said to have been bequeathed to shepherd children in 1917 in the Portuguese village of Fatima during a vision of the Virgin Mary.

The Pope divulged that the anguish of the Church on account of the sexual abuse dishonor was also a component of the wicked secrets.
