Ireland, May 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Pope Benedict XVI has been going through a tough phase as the media and a section of the enraged devotees associated with the Vatican have raised allegations of Sexual abuse committed by a number of Vatican priests in recent times. The allegation has annoyed the Pope even more as the reports suggest that he was aware of the activities of some pedophile priests yet did not step to adequate steps to punish them. After dodging the serious issue for quite some time and counter attacking the media of being gossip loving the Vatican has decided to tackle the issue hands on. That explains why Pope Benedict XVI said in a recent statement that the Catholic Church faces the biggest threat from the sins that exist within it. He was talking on a recent sex scandal and was on his way to Portugal. This was the most direct admission of unholy acts happening in Vatican admitted by the Pope.
Of late the incidents of sexual abuse by priests in various countries like Germany, Belgium and Ireland have come to the forefront and these have left the Vatican red faced and scampering for answer. The Pope also admitted that forgiveness is not the only way to solve these types of acts. He added the need of justice is always there for the victims of such abuse.
The Pope has been criticized for not taking a proactive role in punishing the accused pedophile priests when he was a cardinal. Nevertheless he met with the victims of such priests in Malta. He reiterated the need for moral purification of the devoted Catholics.
