Police Reveal Eiffel Tower Bomb Scare Was A False Alarm

Sep 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Police reported that the bomb scare that caused them to evacuate Paris’ most renowned tourist spot on Tuesday. Eiffel Tower, one of the world’s best recognized constructions became the center of media attention after the police received an anonymous phone call saying that there was a bomb planted in the capital’s landmark. A thorough search of the place by the bomb squad, however, has failed to find any material to support the threat. The officials had to evacuate 2,500 people from the landmark and it surrounding areas and then comb through the 324 meter structure for the bombs.
In spite of the alarm being a false one, the spokesperson for France’s counterespionage agency said that France is now at the highest risk of facing a terrorist attack. One of the chief officials told the media that France’s history as a colonial power in Africa, its presence in Afghanistan and its recent burqa ban controversy has caused several terrorist organization to threat the Nations security agencies. In spite of the bomb scares being common in Paris, the Eiffel tower scare caused a great deal of panic and hassle for the tourists as well as the officials. Soon after the scare was lifted, life was back to normal around the area and people were seen back near the iconic construction.
Apart from the Eiffel Tower, a subway station near the Notre Dame Cathedral was also evacuated according to the police. In 1995, this station was the target of a terrorist attack that resulted in the death of 9 people. Reports suggest that the threats were made around 6:30pm on Tuesday. The popular tourist spot closes everyday around 11pm.
