Police respond to possible hostage situation in Lakeland, Florida
April 13th, 2010 - 2:20 am ICT by BNO NewsLAKELAND, FLORIDA (BNO NEWS) — Florida police on Monday investigated a report that a man is holding three young children hostage inside a Lakeland residence, authorities said.
Sgt. Terri Smith, a spokesperson for the Lakeland Police Department, said the children’s stepfather refused to release them and displayed an assault rifle when the cousin of the mother came to pick up the three children. They are ages 4, 6 and 13.
The suspected hostage situation is taking place on 1350 West Bonny Drive West.
