Police evacuate parts of New York’s Times Square
December 31st, 2009 - 12:58 am ICT by BNO News ( Leave a comment )NEW YORK CITY (BNO NEWS) — New York police have evacuated a part of Times Square, near the NASDAQ building, following the discovery of a suspicious van, a spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
Several media reports said the NASDAQ building was evacuated, but the New York Police Department was not immediately able to confirm that. “We don’t know yet which building was evacuated,” a spokeswoman said.
A message from the New York City Office of Emergency Management advised people to avoid the area. “Due to law enforcement activity avoid the Times Square area near 42nd Street and Broadway,” it said.
