Chicago, Oct 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard had made some cartoons about the Prophet Mohammed, which angered many people. 2 people in Chicago got so upset over it that they decided to hatch a plot to kill the cartoonist. This particular plot to kill Kurt was unearthed by the police authorities.
Daood Saleem Gilani, who changed his name to David Coleman Headley, is accused of conspiring with another man Tahawwur Hussain Rana to plot an attack on a Danish newspaper that published cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed in 2005.
The FBI arrested the 49-year-old Headley on Oct. 3 at O’Hare Airport, as he was about to board a flight to Philadelphia en route to Pakistan. “Headley was living in the Chicago apartment of an unnamed dead person and using that person’s phone too”, authorities said.
The FBI also charged Tahawwur Hussain Rana, another accompli in the conspiracy. He is a 48-year-old native of Pakistan and a citizen of Canada and played a critical part in the alleged conspiracy.
“He was supposed to come visit me, but he never came,” Farid Gilani said. “He said ‘I am going back home to Pakistan.’ ”
One neighbor said many people could be seen coming “in and out of the house’’ over the years.
“They’re not too friendly with us,’’ said one neighbor. “The most I ever get out of them is ‘hello.’ She added: “They’re very soft-spoken and polite. They’re mysterious, keep to themselves.’’
