Plane scare diplomat Mohammed Al-Madadi will not face charges
April 9th, 2010 - 11:05 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington DC, Apr 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Plane scare Qatari diplomat Mohammed Al-Madadi will not be facing any charges, according to the State Department. He was taking an Al-Qaeda sleeper agent to Colorado, when he set off a security scare by spending too much time in the lavatory, where it is believed that he was simply having a smoke.
The Qatari government and the State Department said that the best possible way to solve the case, was not to press for charges against the diplomat and to simply send him home.
The diplomat was going to Colorado for an official visit when he went into the lavatory for a smoke. After he came out of the lavatory, he was questioned in depth by the air marshals, on the United Airlines plane. After the plane landed, then he was again questioned by the FBI.
“We fully expect this will be resolved very quickly,” State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said to the media. Some people are furious that the diplomat would not face any charges at all. “I think it’s wrong. I’d get busted. I don’t think that (immunity) should be a factor,” said Hank DePetro, who is a retired psychologist from Greeley, Colorado.
