Plane carrying 9 mining executives goes missing in Africa
June 21st, 2010 - 2:37 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattCameroon, Jun 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A plane that had onboard mining executives has gone missing. The plane had taken off from Cameroon to the Republic of the Congo. Aboard the plane was the Australian mining magnate Ken Talbot. His company – Sundance Resources has confirmed that their director is missing.
Sundance Resources has also confirmed that there were 9 passengers on board the plane and most of them were the employees of their company. According to the spokesman of the Talbot Group Brian Thornton, – the 59 year old Ken Talbot had gone to inspect the Sundance’s project dealing with iron ore, in Cameroon and the Congo.
The plane had taken off from Yaounde on Saturday, and when it didn’t land in Yangadou, which is located in the Republic of Congo, then there was a big hue and cry. Search parties have been pressed into service, and they are searching the route between the departure and destination. Even the army personnel in Congo and the Cameroon have been asked to help out.
Brian added that, “The families of the missing have been notified and are being supported during this deeply distressing time.”
