Apr 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) “Don’t attack my dog or you might get shot … if you’re a coyote,” the governor of Texas, Rick Perry stated on Tuesday. Perry told the Associated Press that all he needed was one shot from his pistol with the laser sight that he carries along on his jogs at times, to stop the coyote which had threatened his puppy on a jog in February. He reportedly carried the gun, a .380 Ruger loaded with hollow point bullets, when he jogs on trails, since he is afraid of snakes, and had seen coyotes in the area. After a coyote rushed out of the bushes as of to attack his daughter’s Labrador Retriever Gov Perry took aim and fired, killing the animal.

Perry holds a permit to carry a concealed weapon. He was said to have killed the animal with one shot, and then left it on the trail as he continued his run with the dog. The dog was not harmed. Perry’s description of the events was as follows: “I holler and the coyote stopped. I holler again. By this time I had taken my weapon out and charged it. It is now staring dead at me. Either me or the dog are in imminent danger. I did the appropriate thing and sent it to where coyotes go.”
