Pirates hijack Bulgarian-flagged chemical product tanker in the Gulf of Aden
May 12th, 2010 - 12:30 am ICT by BNO NewsBRUSSELS (BNO NEWS) — Somali pirates on Tuesday hijacked a Bulgarian-flagged chemical product tanker in the Gulf of Aden, European officials said. A crew of 15 is on board.
The ‘MV Panega’ was hijacked on Tuesday afternoon in the Gulf of Aden, approximately 100 nautical miles east of Yemen. The European Union Naval Force Somalia said the ship was en-route from the Red Sea to India when she was attacked by pirates.
‘MV Panega’ has a dead weight of 5,848 tonnes and was carrying a crew of 15 Bulgarians.
