Dec 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A formation of moisture pipeline originating from Hawaii which is called Pineapple Express is headed towards the western states of USA, say the weather experts. It is likely to cause medium to heavy rainfall in the Orange county in the next few days, it is being expected. The prospects of rainfall and cloud are high as warm wind across the ocean will clash with cold air in southern parts of California. Mark Moede, a National Weather Service meteorologist confirmed this. He said when the warm, moist air hits that cold boundary, ‘it has nowhere to go but up’. In southern California, such weather developments are not seen too frequently.
The meteorologist added that the rainfall can go on till early next week. However, he did not say whether it will persist till the time of Christmas. The Orange County is expected to witness two inches of rainfall and in mountains heavier rainfall will take place. It is being expected that on Sunday the rainfall is going to be the most intense. Therefore, the weather before Christmas is likely to be frightful. The weather veterans have differed on their opinion on the amount of rainfall but they have unanimously agreed that the next few days are going to be wet, courtesy the Pineapple Express.
The weather experts have not ruled out the chances of mudslides and flooding in the next week. Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Operations is ready with its sand bags to counter any situation. The wind speed may vary from 15 to 25 mph and a temperature drop throughout the day will be perceptible.
