Dec. 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The blast attempt that alarmed the officials and passengers in the Detroit airport on the Christmas Day could have taken a violent shape if Nigerian terrorist, Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab’s attempt to ignite the explosive was not stopped at the right time. It was the passengers of the flight, who stopped the terrorist from his suicidal blast attempt. According to the latest reports regarding the investigation of the case, the terrorist had used Pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN explosive) to blow off the Northwest Airlines Flight 253.
PETN is known to be one of the most powerful explosives and could have caused a great damage on the Christmas Day. The reports related to the blast attempt also stated that the explosive that was taped around the leg of the terrorist was found in a latex based container. As per the reports, Richard Reid had also used the same explosive in 2001 to blast the Boeing 767. PETN explosive is not only used by terrorists but also was used by the Germans during the World War I.
Obtaining PETN explosive from the Nigerian terrorist indicates that he has involvement with some big terror groups. The terrorist, who was alleged to have some association with Al Qaeda, has declared to have received training at the Al Qaeda base in Yemen. The terrorist, who has burnt his leg in the blast attempt said that he has received the instructions of blast from the Yemen base of Al Qaeda. He is still in police custody and more reports related to him is expected to surface with the progress of the investigation of the case.

Way to go passengers. I have often thought that we are not doing a good enough job of policing ourselves. Paid police and government officials are not and can not protect us from everything all the time. We must protect ourselves. I am so glad to see that the waive of passive behavior against people that threaten us is coming to an end. If someone is attempting to harm you or your family take action. Don’t be passive and hope they will not do what they say they will do. Act with all you have to get out of the situation as quickly as possible. Once again, I commend the passengers of this flight. I hope they have taught the rest of us Americans a valuable lesson.
