abcSep 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The shield bugs or the stink bugs are presently making the lives of the farmers miserable in Pennsylvania. A recent survey report has revealed that the stink bugs are posing “devastating” threat to the crops by putting the fruit orchards and vegetable in danger by destroying them completely. The report also shows that the stink bugs are are even attacking people at home and it is expected that the danger will be prominent in the late September and October.

A reputed media source reported that Greg Krawczyk of Pennsylvania State’s Fruit Research Center has reported that the stink bugs and the insects have destroyed 40% of their crops in the fruit orchards. However, other areas like Adams County, Northern Maryland and West Virginia are also affected by the attack of the stink bugs. Greg Krawczyk, in one of his statements told a reputed media source that the damage could also spread to other crops as well and he mentioned that the amount of stink bugs this year are “amazingly” huge. What seems to be most surprising is that the farmers have complained that now a days none of the pesticides or insecticides work on them!

The species, which is native to China has been causing a lot of problems in Pennsylvania this year. Vince Schwalm, one of the reputed farm’s owner said that the stink bugs have already destroyed 45 acres of apple orchards, 7 acres of peaches and nectarines along with 5 1/2 acres of pears. It seems that almost every effort of then farmers to keep the stink bugs away from the fruit plants have failed. The stink bugs attack fruit tree and plants and completely destroys them. However, the farmers say that although the fruit becomes discolored but the flavor of the fruit remains.
