dinner Sep 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Perry Watkins is anxiously waiting for the decision from the Guinness Book of World Records on whether or not his racing down the road while sitting at the diningroom table will be accepted for the “Fastest Furniture” title.

Watkins, who is from Buckinghamshire drove a complete dinning room table and chairs down the racetrack at speeds exceeding 113 miles per hour. Watkins is a British inventor who is hoping to take the title away from Edd China, who currently holds it for his motorized sofa. The speedy couch reached speeds of 92 miles per hour to win Fastest Furniture.

Fourty-seven year old Watkins, who is the sales director at a show repair shop drove the ‘Queen Anne’ table two times down the 550m track. He has chosen to name his table “Fast Food.” Underneath the dinette set is a Reliant Scimitar sports car chassis with a fuel injected Land Rover Discovery engine, which is fueled with Nitrous Oxide.

The top speed reached by Fast Food was 130 miles per hour, and the average speed was 113.8, which is definitely fast enough to beat the 97 mile an hour couch. He is currently waiting for the results from Guinness, to see if his table will indeed be crowned “Fastest Furniture”
