stormdamage-02July 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The residents of Washington DC and those living in the Maryland region are grumbling for the prolonged power cut that has plagued the area. The quick but powerful storm that hit the region has resulted in widespread power outage and darkness, throwing the public life out of gear. The residents are angry that Pepco known as a reliable power service provider has not been able to restore power even a day after the storm. The public anger against Pepco became evident on Monday and even political leaders fumed against the energy entity. They are of the opinion that the power company has acted sluggishly after the crisis.

Some of the customers are irate that the company is reacting to the queries of the concerned users through automated voice response system instead of human voice. Just a few months back Washington DC was lashed by a massive snowstorm. However, at that time the other power companies reacted with far more swiftness than Pepco did after the recent storm. Till Monday night over 200,000 customers of the company were without electricity which made their situation extremely pathetic.

Pepco earlier said that power will be restored to those customers by Tuesday but later it said that until Thursday the majority of customers would have to stay without power. The web site of the company crashed which furthered infuriated those customers who failed to reach the customer service operators by phone earlier. The company however tried to defend itself saying that 185 crew members were working hard to restore power across all routes. The storm uprooted several trees in the region and made a mess of the power wires as a result.
