Pennsylvania mayor puts names of blighted property owners on the Online Wall of Shame

Pennsylvania, Aug 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Property owners who have not been maintaining their properties well are being named and shamed over the Internet in a city located to the east of Pennsylvania.

Tom McMahon, who is the Mayor of Reading has made public statements about a new website online that will showcase properties that not being well maintained and he said they will be razed down if owners don’t do the required maintenance. The pictures and physical address locations of these owners are also featured on the website.

The Mayor said the city is cracking down on property owners who were bringing filth into his city as a result of negligence of their properties. He made those statements while visiting one of such properties. “We are ramping up our focus on irresponsible property owners that are bringing blight into our city neighborhoods,” McMahon said in a statement on Monday.

He said 60 properties have already been tagged as filthy ones and ten of them have their owners officially notified. He said all options were on the table to get the filth out of the city including demolitions. He said he wanted the whole world to know about the irresponsibility of those owners.
