New York, April 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Patty Duke has appeared in a new video released by the Social Security Administration to educate the public on how to access Social Security benefits on the Internet. The “Star Trek”-themed video also features George Takei.

Duke has appeared in numerous movies and television shows. Her recent work was in the 2010 movie, “Unanswered Prayers.” Duke however is well known in other movies. She won an Oscar in 1962 for her role in the move “The Miracle Worker.” She was a familiar face in the 1960s for the show “The Patty Duke Show” which did run from 1963 to 1966. Duke’s other works included “The Love Boat,” “Frasier” and “Touched by an Angel.”

Social Security Commissioner Michael Astrue believes that the decision to use Duke for the educational campaign has paid off. Astrue said that, “Patty has been wildly successful. People stop her in airports now and ask her if she is the Social Security lady. We need these ads to be interesting and humorous so that they go viral.”
