Path Train Accident Leads To 13 Injuries

accidentOctober 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Path train accident at the 33rd Street station injured more than ten people. It has been stated by the sources that Wednesday morning, the Path train which was heading for New Jersey had somehow missed the station and hit the stopper at the end, leading to injury of several people. New Jersey and New York Port Authority spokesperson, Jennifer Friedberg stated that thirteen people had received minor injuries in this accident. She also stated that seven people who were injured in the accident were transported to the hospital. People who were transported to the hospital included two members of the crew. She also stated that other injured people did not take medical aid.

The Path train that had met the accident had seven cars. It has the capacity of carrying approximately nine hundred people. However, the number of passengers were low at the time of the accident. Sources stated that nearly 450 people were on the train when it had met the accident. Fire personnel rushed to the spot immediately after the accident and rescued the passengers safely. As stated by the sources nearly eighty fire personnel had gone to the spot to provide help.

Investigations have started to identify the cause of the accident. Ms. Friedberg had stated that investigation reports would also state the speed of the train when it had met the accident. As the accident was minor, authorities did not stop the train service on this route. Road traffic was stopped after this accident. However, everything returned to normal condition within a very short period of time.
