Jan 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Pat Robertson, the famed television evangelist, gave his idea of what he thinks caused the great earthquake in Haiti. What makes the idea really astounding is the fact that at a time when everyone is trying to put in his or her own bit to provide some relief to the tragedy struck earthquake victims, Pat Robertson seems to be doing his bit in not helping. Moreover, his theory is really astounding, sounding more like the proclamation of a soothsayer from some bygone era, rather than coming from a modern twenty-first century media personality.

What Pat Robertson said was something in the strain of the people having come to an agreement with the devil, which is what, according to him, had caused the terrible earthquake. Moreover, he backed up his claim with historical evidence, reportedly. However, he did not forget to mention that it is likely that the fact would not be remembered by the people of the region, or, that, they would not like to bring up the topic. He recounted that a long time back, the pact in question had been made by the inhabitants of Haiti, at a time when they were under the domination of the French.

According to the evangelist, the Haitians had reached an agreement with the Devil, on the note that if he could rid them of the French, they would be his slaves for ever after. Past Robertson mentioned that ever since that time, the Haitians have been afflicted with one disaster after another. Something that is no doubt the consequence of the thoughtless and unfortunate pact.
