Jan 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The failed terrorist attempt to detonate the PETN explosive for blasting a flight in the Detroit Airport has raised the heckles of US security officials and they have decided to adopt some strict security measures for preventing such threats in future. The new security measures have been made effective and people from fourteen countries will have to undergo extensive security checks.
It has been reported that US security officials have made a list of fourteen countries, which they consider as the terrorism sponsors. Passengers who will come from any of these countries should be prepared for strict checking in all the airports. As stated in the reports, the list includes the name of thirteen Muslim nations, Yemen, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, Algeria, Afghanistan, Sudan and Iran. The name of one non-Muslim country, Cuba has also been recorded in the “terror-prone” countries.
The airport security laws in the United States were made strict after the terrorism attack of 9/11 and the recent blast attempt has enhanced the security measures further. It has been reported that Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab’s carrying explosives in his undergarments made the officials implement scanners that would be able to detect any kind of explosives hidden in inner-wears of a person.
As per the reports, apart from the automatic checks, passengers might get detained if the authorities find any kind of suspicious behavior. Therefore, people who are coming to the US airports from any parts of the world, especially from the listed “terror-prone” countries should not carry anything that will make the officers suspicious about their activities.
