Passenger plane carrying 96 people crashes in northeast China
August 24th, 2010 - 10:41 pm ICT by BNO NewsBEIJING (BNO NEWS) — A passenger plane carrying nearly 100 people crashed in northeast China on late Tuesday evening, state media reported, but few details were immediately available.
The aircraft belonging to regional Henan Airlines went down in Yichun City, a city in Heilongjiang Province, at around 10.10 p.m. local time. A total of 96 people were believed to be on board, according to the state-run Xinhua news agency.
The aircraft is believed to be an Embraer E190.
Xinhua said rescuers are rushing to the scene. Other details were not immediately available.
