Komodo dragon Jakarta, Feb 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) An Indonesian park ranger - Marcelinus Subanghadir, was attacked by a Komodo dragon, which is said to be the world’s largest lizard species. He cried for help, and fortunately for him, his colleagues heard his cries for help, and rescued him, and also drove the reptile away.

Marcelinus Subanghadir was outside his hut on Komodo Island, when he was attacked by a nearly 7-foot-long (more than 2-meter-long) dragon. The attack happened on Monday, when the dragon grabbed hold of Marcelinus Subanghadir’s right foot, according to a report by the Komodo National Park chief Tamen Sitorus.

The dragon clenched Subanghadir’s foot in his shark-like, serrated teeth, until his colleagues and other park rangers came to his rescue, and also drove the dangerous dragon off with wooden clubs, Sitorus said. Despite being rescued, the 34-year-old Marcelinus Subanghadir suffered deep lacerations, and was also rushed to a hospital in Bali. He is recuperating there.

Komodo dragons are found in the wild, on the eastern Indonesian islands of Komodo, Padar and Rinca. The total number of the dragons are said to be less than 4000, and they can grow longer than 10 feet (3 meters) and weigh an amazing 150 pounds (70 kilograms).
