Painter Thomas Kinkade Arrested on DUI Suspicion
June 15th, 2010 - 11:59 pm ICT by Angela Kaye MasonJune 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Thomas Kinkade, famous painter was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence just outside of Carmel, says a statement from the California Highway Patrol.
Kinkade was pulled over by a Monterey County sheriff deputy in his Mercedes Benz because of a vehicle code violation. After talking to Kinkade, the deputy had reason to believe that he was drunk, according to CHP Officer Robert Lehman.
The deputy called in the Califonia Highway Patrol to assist with the arrest, and tests were done to see if the painter was indeed intoxicated. Kinkade was arrested at around 10 pm.
Thomas Kinkade was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail for suspicion of misdemeanor drunken driving, according to Lehman. He was said to have been very polite during his arrest. The blood alcohol level was not released by the CHP, although Kinkade did submit to the blood test.
Thomas Kinkade specializes in paintings of light filled cottage, lighthouse, seaside, and chapel scenes, as well as pastures and landscapes. Because of this, he has been nicknamed the ‘Painter of Light’.
