Getaway CarJune 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A collection of items are going to be put up for auction at the now defunct Pate Museum of Transportation in Cresson, near Fort Worth.

The list of the to be auctioned vehicles includes one that has blood on it, and the corpse of a President. One of the vehicles that has been put up for auction is the Checker cab that once took Lee Oswald Harvey to safety.

The same Lee Oswald Harvey who had allegedly shot the former United States President John F. Kennedy to death from the sixth floor of a nearby building, shooting a bullet right through the back of his head. He had hailed the cab only moments after he shot the President.

Ironically, it might easily have been a bus that could have been put up for auction in this historical, albeit ignominious context.

Lee Oswald Harvey had, initially, jumped on to a bus after committing the murder, with the security hot on his trail. However, the bus had become stuck in a traffic jam, and he was forced to abandon it and hailed the Cab 36 indeed, the Checkers cab that has been put up for auction.

The cab had been donated to the museum by the Checkers Corp, along with a letter that stated its history. It is being speculated that the cab would be fetching about $20,000 to $30,000. The cab, after being auctioned, is going to be put up for display at the Historic Auto Attractions of Rockford, in Illinois.

The display is also going to include other memorabilia of John F. Kennedy.
