Washington, June 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) World’s most dreaded terrorist, Osama Bin Laden is hiding in Pakistan’s tribal areas, said the CIA director Leon Panetta in an interview to a television channel. According to the CIA chief, the mastermind behind the 9/11 attack and several other terrorist activities is hiding in one of the rugged villages in Pakistan.
Leon Panetta also said that the terrorist outfit, al-Quaeda is at a point of no-existence with only 60-100 active militants residing in Afghanistan. The CIA chief also gave a brief account of the raging war between the Taliban and the US military forces that has been going on in Afghanistan for the past nine years or so. Leon Panetta said that the US forces have been successful of taking down half of the al-Quaeda leadership with several attacks being laid upon the tribal areas of Pakistan. CIA has only paced up their frequent attacks at the possible al-Quaeda bases and camps, with several militants and leaders getting killed in recent times.
The CIA chief also said that the US would be able to “flush out” Osama Bin Laden, but it would still take some time to carry out the operation. Although Leon Panetta claimed that the al-Quaeda chief has gone into a hibernation in one of the remote areas of Pakistan, he failed to explain the exact location of the most wanted man on earth.
Violence in Afghanistan has been at its worst since 2001, with many soldiers and civilians getting killed in the process. However, the hunt for Osama Bin Laden has still been on with the US failing to capture the exact location of his whereabouts.
