Oregon woman brings rifle to work to show colleague, sparks SWAT response
February 5th, 2010 - 12:32 am ICT by BNO NewsHAPPY VALLEY, OREGON (BNO NEWS) — A woman caused a brief scare at ADP Date Processing in Happy Valley, Oregon when she brought a rifle to work on Thursday, authorities said.
Detective Jim Strovink, a spokesman for the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, said a SWAT team responded to the facility at 8.32 a.m. local time after receiving reports of a woman armed with a rifle inside the building.
The scene was quickly contained and officers determined that the woman brought the rifle to work in order to show it to one of her colleagues.
Strovink said it is not illegal to carry a rifle, and no charges will be filed.
