PORTLAND, OREGON (BNO NEWS) – An Oregon man was arrested after he was dealing drugs while accompanied by his infant child, prosecutors said Friday.

Edgar Antonio Mendozaortega, age 31, of Portland, Oregon, was accompanied by his 22-month old daughter in a vehicle while he was trying to deliver 4.5 grams of heroin.

West Linn Police received an alert from a concerned citizen who reported an occupied suspicious vehicle in a residential area, and members of the Clackamas County Inter Agency Task Force (CCITF) were called to assist with this ongoing heroin investigation.

Mendoza Ortega had been previously deported and is now in custody within the Clackamas County Jail on an immigration hold, but he is also being charged for possession and distribution of a controlled substance and child neglect.

“This is a prime example of a citizen calling in something suspicious and a responding patrol sergeant conducting a thorough investigation – then referring this result to the CCITF for follow-up – resulting in a significant arrest. Good police work,” the supervising Sergeant representing the CCITF said.
