Portland, June 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Sunday the Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton announced that the disappearance of the 7-year-old Portland boy Kyron Horman will now have a criminal investigation.
Monte Reiser, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Captain said to media sources that the crew had almost completed their task of combing 2 miles area surrounding the Skyline Elementary School. However, the County Sheriff’s department did not clearly state why is the investigation now being done under the category of criminal offense.
The new decision comes ten days after the second grader Kyron Horman went missing. The boy went missing after attending a morning science fair at his Skyline Elementary School on June 4. He was reported missing after he did not reach home on time by his school bus.
The boy’s stepmother then alerted the school which then contacted the police for help. The police registered the boy as a “missing endangered child” and continued its search whole through the state.
However, on Sunday the case was registered under criminal investigation. Sheriff Dan Staton announced that though the local search by the crew will be continued, the search teams who are conducting a statewide search will be called back.
The authority announced that prize money of $25,000 will be given to the person who would provide correct information to the police about the where about of the child. Monte Reiser maintained during the press conference that the new turn will in way slow the process of investigation and that the urgency of the matter will remain the same. He said “Our commitment and resources are unwavering”.
The Sunday press conference was also attended by Kyron Horman’s father and mother who came along with their respective spouses.
