Washington, Feb 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Office Of Personnel Management of the United States has declared on its official website that the office would remain closed on Monday, due to the blizzard that hit the country and blanketed the entire city of Washington D.C in snow. The Office Of Personnel Management declared Monday to be a federal snow day, calling for the closure of all federal offices for the day. For those who have not been able to gain access to the official website of the Office Of Personnel Management, the information can be obtained by calling the official number of the establishment.
The declaration by the Office Of Personnel Management led to some surprise and more importantly, confusion, as people could not be certain as to which areas would fall under the declaration, that is, the federal offices in which areas would remain closed for the day. As a result, a lot of searches were being made for the website, with people looking for the present status of the Office Of Personnel Management as displayed in the website, which in turn led to the crashing of the site due to excessive web traffic.
The declaration was posted in the website of the Office Of Personnel Management after a discussion with the transport officials and the local and state governments. The decision was taken by John Berry, the Director of the Office Of Personnel Management. It had been deemed that commuting on Monday would not be a safe affair. However, the website also sites certain exceptions. It states that emergency personnel would have to report if the requirement arises.
