One of Chili Miners, Edison Pena to Run in NY Marathon
November 3rd, 2010 - 3:37 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonNov 2 (THAINDIAN NEWS) One of the thirty-three miners which were rescued after 69 days in a mine shaft in Chile is scheduled to run in the New York Marathon that is being held this weekend, according to CBS.
Edison Peña was invited to the race as a spectator, but said that he did not merely wish to sit on the sidelines, and so he will don a number, and run along with the other participants.
Peña is 34 years old, and used to run three to six miles daily in order to stay in shape, and to clear his mind while he was trapped underground. He listened to Elvis Presley’s music on his iPod as he ran, and many of the other miners began to call him “The Runner”.
