MARBLE, COLORADO (BNO NEWS) — At least one person was killed after a small plane crashed in western Colorado on early Sunday, federal authorities said.

The Beechcraft Bonanza G35 aircraft went down about 1.2 miles (1.9 kilometers) east of Marble, a town in Gunnison County, at approximately 7.40 MDT, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The agency said three people were on board the aircraft when it crashed, killing one passenger and critically injuring another. The condition of the third person on board was not immediately known. “I assume that person was neither killed nor critically injured,” the FAA said.

Federal records show the 1956-build aircraft was registered to Fritts William of Osceola, Missouri. It was not immediately clear if William was actually on board the aircraft when it crashed, or if he was one of the casualties.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the FAA will investigate the cause of the crash.
