Oldest US woman - Mary Josephine Ray dies, she was 114 years old

woman Westmoreland, Mar 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Mary Josephine Ray who was the oldest person living in the US, has died. She was 114 years old, and she died on Sunday in a nursing home. Even though she was admitted in a nursing home, her granddaughter Katherine Ray says that she had an active lifestyle, a fortnight prior to her death. “She just enjoyed life. She never thought of dying at all,” Katherine Ray said. “She was planning for her birthday party.” She was the oldest person in the US, and the second-oldest person in the world, according to the Gerontology Research Group. She was also the titleholder of the oldest person to ever live in New Hampshire.

After her demise, the title of the oldest person in the United States has passed onto Neva Morris who is an inhabitant of Iowa, and her age is 114 years and 216 days. The oldest person in the world, is Kama Chinen who lives in Japan, and his age is 114 years and 301 days.

Coincidentally the day Mary Ray died, another old person – Daisey Bailey also passed away. Daisey was 113 years and 342 days old. Both of them passed away within hours of each other. “It’s very rare that two of our super centenarians die on the same day,” L. Stephen Coles, a director of the Gerontology Research Group said.
