Katmandu, Apr 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A South Korean woman – Oh Eun-sun created history, when she became the first woman in the world to scale all the 14 highest mountains. The 44-year-old Oh achieved the record, when she scaled the top of the Annapurna peak, crawling on her hands and feet. She created the record on Tuesday, and her valiant effort was broadcast live in South Korea by the KBS television. And in the process she also managed to beat a Spanish rival, who also wanted to create the record.

When she scaled the peak of Annapurna, then she took out a South Korean flag, waved it jubilantly in the air and shouted ‘Victory’. She also had tears of joy in her eyes, as she created the record.

She had scaled the highest mountain in the world – Everest in 2004, and she had started her quest for the record in 1997, when she had scaled Gasherbrum II. It took her 13 years to scale all the 14 highest peaks in the world. This was her third attempt to scale Annapurna. She had tried to conquer the peak last week too, but couldn’t do so because of heavy snowfall and a bad wind. Prior to that she had tried to scale it, last year too, but she wasn’t successful because of bad weather.
